Cublington, Leighton Buzzard
So there I was, at home on a Friday afternoon, minding my own business, when I noticed that one of my Facebook Friends had changed her status to 'Going to see John Young in Leighton Buzzard', which was coincidental as I was going to the hometown of 80's pretty boys Kajagoogo that night already to drop off a mac. I didn't recognise the name of the pub but my friend Clare did, so we headed off down some disturbingly dark and eerie country lanes to the village of Cublington and found the pub exactly where it has been for several centuries.
We made our way inside the pub where we bumped into our friends Julie, Sal :-), Steve and Janice. Just had time for a friendly pint - politely refusing the Burns Night complementary haggis - before John Young took to the stage area.
I'm not that familiar with the Youngsters repartee but he played a set of well received and thoughtful songs before taking a break. Upon returning he launched into a second set of proggyier numbers including several from his Insignificience album. I recognised (or remembered) Underside and Childhoods' End.
The boy Young is off touring the States now, but will be back in Leighton Buzzard on the 14th March at the Wheatsheaf. Go along for a decent nights entertainment!
