2008 was an historic year for Pendragon. Not only did they release what many think is their best album ever, the uber impressive Pure, but they also passed the big "30". Yeah, they may not look it, but they've been playing sweet prog rock music for longer than Steven Gerrard and Kerry Katona have been alive. Hell, Mantovani was still alive when they started!
To celebrate this milestone, the band - Nick Barrett (vocals, guitars), Peter Gee (bass guitar), Clive Nolan (keyboards) and new boy Scott Higham (drums) - embarked on their longest tour ever, encompassing 30 dates nearly 10 countries.
As part of the tour the boys played at the Teatr Slaski in Katowice, Poland, which as many of you will now know, is fast becomming a prog DVD hotbed! This was no exception, as the guys and gals at Metal Mind recorded the night for posterity.
This DVD is the result of that evening. Two and a half hours of an excellent Pendragon concert, playing tracks from their 30 year history. The band were on top form this evening, making the whole thing seem easy. And as usual, it has been expertly filmed and edited by Metal Mind, with plenty of band close ups, different camera angles and crowd shots.
The track list is like a who's who of Pendragon's history, with my only disappointment being the lack of tracks from The Jewel, but as that was covered in detail on their previous Past and Presence I can hardly complain.
