Damian Wilson Band European Tour begins tomorrow

Rock God Damian Wilson and his band begin their European tour this weekend in Belgium, before whizzing round Holland and Switzerland. They'll then hit the UK with a date at The Peel on November 21st and at The Robin2 on the 22nd.

You'll all know Damian as the singer from Metaliprog gods Threshold, but he's also been with Headspace, Ayreon, Rick Wakeman and Landmarq, as well as having several solo albums and starring in Les Mis.

For this, his first solo tour, he will be playing stuff from his back catalogue, including Threshold, Ayreon, Ricky Wakey, his solo tunes and some bonus treats.

His support band reads like a Who's That of Dutch proggers, and consists of Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation), Dirk Bruinenberg (Elegy), Kristoffer Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation, Dial) and Joost ven den Broek (Ayreon, After Forever).

They're playing the following dates

Saturday 3rd October - Spirit of 66, Verviers, Belgium (Convention Resiste 2009 with Mangrove, Moongarden & Simon Says)
Sunday 4th October - Bat Cave, Tilburg, Netherlands
Friday 9th October - De Boerderij, Zoetermeer, Netherlands
Saturday 10th October - De Pul, Uden, Netherlands
Friday 16th October - Z7, Pratteln, Switzerland
Saturday 21st November - The Peel, Kingston
Sunday 22nd November - Robin 2, Bilston

Next weekends Dutch Double is being billed as Damian's Double Dutch Birthday Dates: "I'm celebrating being twice as old as Threshold!" joked the jovial frontman, who'll be celebrating his 40th birthday at the De Boerderij and De Pul shows. The Boerderij show will also be filmed.

Meanwhile, Damian will be fitting in a series of Threshold gigs as well. Keyboarder Richard West said : "It's great to be racing across Europe one more time before we start work on the new album. It's going to be an epic set! Alongside our usual suspects such as Slipstream and Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams we're planning to add a lot of long tracks which don't often get played like Consume To Live, The Whispering and The Art Of Reason. What's more we'll be adding some songs we've NEVER played live before such as Fighting For Breath and our 13 minute epic Critical Mass (part 1-3). We'll also be performing a previously unreleased song from our new fan club album that will be on sale at the shows. We just can't wait to get out there again!"

Supporting Threshold are two of Europe's finest progressive metal bands, Serenity from Austria and Spheric Universe Experience from France, with Pythia replacing Spheric Universe Experience at the London show.
