nosound - a sense of loss |

Three albums into his nosound career and it's good to find Giancarlo Erra still living up to his early promise. In case you've missed them, nosound have released a couple of previous albums, 2005's SOL29 and 2008's lightdark. Both have been well received here and around the world.
Giancarlo has the knack of being able to write those beautifully miserable atmospheric post-alt-art-rock songs that Steve Wilson does for Blackfield and most noticeably label-mates no-man, with whom they share their "no capitals" philosophy.
Album opener Some Warmth Into This Chill features drum patterns overlaid with luscious synths. On top of that, Giancarlo's Italian accent on the vocals lends the song an additional air of mystery. Fading Silently adds more piano and strings into this dreamy mix. Third track Tender Claim really brings to mind Porcupine Tree's mid period work.
My Apology and Constant Contrast continue in the same excellent vein, but star track on the album is the expansive and atmospheric 15 minute long album closer, Winter Will Come, where all the ideas presented in the previous tracks come together!
The 2 disc edition of the album includes a DVD containing 5.1 surround and 24bit mixes of the album, video footage, picture gallery and more. It will be released on the 2nd November, via KScope. You can check out the bands website at www.nosound.net too.
