Jeremy - Pop Explosion
Written by Kev Rowland
jeremy - pop explosion

And so we come to yet another 2008 album from the multi-faceted Jeremy, here back strongly in the realms of psychedelic power pop. Here we have an artist who wears his love of The Beatles strongly and proudly for all to see, yet manages also to make this style very much his own. I really am starting to run out of superlatives for this guy – I just don’t know how he does it. I haven’t managed to hear all his albums (which I think is in the region of 40!) but have listened to most of them and I have yet to come across anything that could remotely be considered a dud. Again this is very much a case in point with 14 songs that display all that is good about this type of music from strong melodies and harmonies to powerful hooks, always managing to stay on the right side of sugar overkill yet still being incredibly radio friendly (if you had a decent radio station that is). “I’m Still Waiting” should be on every AOR lover’s playlist, with riffing guitars and hooks even some distorted guitar!

Now, if you weren’t yet intrigued enough to look out this album already then how about the bonus CD that comes with it? Fully justified in being released in its’ own right, ‘Under Cover’ contains more than twenty songs where Jeremy takes on numbers like “I’m Not In Love” and “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” and moves them into his swirling late Sixties world. Jeremy continues to defy the popular belief that one can only be a master of one area, while managing somehow to maintain a phenomenal output in many different genres.
