This winters crazy transfer window got even crazier today when Alan Reed announced that the other members of Scottish proggers Pallas had unanimously decided to sack me.
Alan, who had just returned from a successful tour of South America with Caamora posted a statement, entitled Just A Memory... on his Facebook page about the bands decision.
I, for one, will be sad to see him go as Pallas, for me, needs Alan in the band. Their dalliance with former singer Euan Lowson over the past couple of years have just been a nostalgia trip for some.
This move must throw doubt on the bands forthcoming XXV album, as well as their appearance at the Progeny festival on May 9th.
More information on this, and who will be able to fill Alan's shoes, as we get it...
UPDATE
Pallas bass player Graeme Murray has just posted a statement on the Pallas official Facebook Page explaining the bands side of the story. In his statement he says that the band and Alan had drifted apart. He goes on to reassure fans that the XXV album and gig will go ahead as planned.
Comment by tommyrot on 2010-02-11 09:46:26 Is Alan your best mate or something?! The bias in this 'report' in unbelievable. I don't know what went on behind the scenes, and neither do you, yet you seem to have judged this a black and white situation already. Graeme Murray makes it clear in his announcement that Alan's pre-emptive missive (which first appeared on the Eyes in the Net Yahoo group, incidentally, not Facebook), had taken them all by surprise, hence the initial lack of communication from the rest of the band. No sinister plot there.
Comment by Charlie O' on 2010-01-29 00:41:38 Biased reporting? Involving a BBC employee? Surely not!
Face it, the decision has been taken over the last fortnight while Alan has been out of the country. That's plenty enough time to draft up a statement for their numerous web sites go go live after they'd told him.
As it was, he was told on Wednesday and it took til Thursday night to get anything out of them. This isn't the 80s anymore. How can they be "surprised" that he took the news so badly anyway?
And this was before he knew about the new singer (not mentioned in the statement)

on 2010-02-04 15:01:41 It is all very sad, but it holds opportunities as well! Once, there was only one Marillion, now we have two Marillions: Steve Hogarth´s and Mick Pointer´s. I´d just be too glad to see Alan Reed´s Pallas in the nearer future. Featuring The Widge. And speaking of, why not put together a festival including Mick Pointer´s Marillion, Alan Reed´s Pallas, Martin Orford´s iQ, Rick Carter´s Pendragon and someone else´s Twelfth Night? I would go and down a pint or pint or two. And I´m pretty sure Fabian von Poser´s Neil Garratt would come as well...
Comment by Charlie O' on 2010-02-10 14:25:02 That sounds like a winner to me! I'll make a few calls.
Maybe we could get them to play at Martin Hudson's Rotherham?
