Twelfth Night’s Complete 2010 “Play On” Tour Schedule and Line-up Announced

PRESS RELEASE: We are delighted to announce the final two live dates for our 2010 “Play On” tour.

So rather than performing a single major London show (somewhere like the Albany) this year we have decided to perform two smaller shows, one in London and one in Reading. These are at intimate venues with capacities of around 200-300, so the emphasis will be very much on the music … just like in the old days at the Marquee!

Firstly, on 28 May 2010, we will be performing at The Luminaire, in Kilburn (London) (www.theluminaire.co.uk). This Luminaire has gained a deserved reputation as an excellent live venue and we are delighted to be able to perform in London, and be promoted by the Classic Rock Society. As it is a relatively small venue we think there should be a great atmosphere. Tickets are £15 in advance, and are available from the CRS at www.crsshop.co.uk - there is a small booking fee per order, rather than per ticket. Should there be any tickets left on the night, they will be £17. Advance tickets are also available from the venue’s web agents, though again there is a booking fee (per ticket). www.wegottickets.com.

Secondly, and for the first time since October 1984, we will be performing in our old home town of Reading. This will take place a month earlier on 30 April 2010 at the Reading Arts South Street venue (www.readingarts.com/southstreet) and will be a warm-up show for the Progeny Festival the following week. South Street looks like a wonderful venue and, as we really want this to be a great show for our faithful fans, we will not be advertising this show anywhere else. This gives you all the first chance to secure your place and hopefully make it a memorable night for all of us. Ticket numbers are limited, and again priced at £15. You will able to book tickets direct from the Reading Arts box office later this week.

Now to important news about the line-up for 2010. As some of you may have already heard that due to personal circumstances, our founding guitarist Andy Revell is unable to join the band for this series of gigs. Rev is, of course, a key part of Twelfth Night's history and it was only after many weeks of careful and difficult deliberation, and with great regret, that he has felt it necessary to withdraw from the 2010 series of concerts. Rev remains part of the Twelfth Night set up and we all send our best wishes and hope he will continue to play a part in the band's future.

With Rev unavailable, the band will be augmented by TWO musicians for the 2010 concerts. We are delighted to announce that our friends Roy Keyworth and Dean Baker of Galahad have joined us for these live dates, expanding the band, for the first time in its history, to a six-piece.

So the full line-up will be

• * Clive Mitten: Bass, lead, classical, guitars. Keyboards. Bass pedals. Voice
• * Dean Baker: Keyboards. Vocals
• * Mark Spencer: Bass and lead guitars. Keyboards. Vocals
• * Roy Keyworth: Lead guitar. Vocals. Antics

This exciting development allows us to be much more flexible with instrumentation and arrangements; and for the first time we will be able to reproduce the multi-layered guitar and keyboard parts from our later albums, as well as looking at earlier tracks in a new light. As you can see guitar duties, in particular, will be shared between Mark, Clive, and Roy.

We plan to play more challenging material in this series of concerts, including some songs not performed for more than 25 years! There will be a number of set-list changes from the 2007-2008 dates, with some material dating back to the earlier days of the band, and, fingers crossed, a few more songs from XII.

There will be no support act at either of these two gigs. The show will start soon after 8pm, and you can expect us to be on stage for more than 2 hours each night.

Appearing with Twelfth Night on 8 May are Elves of Silbury Hill (members of Hawkwind), Here & Now, Circulus and The Future Kings of England. The Sunday headliners are Mick Pointer’s Recital of the Script. We should be on-stage at 9-30pm.
