Polish proggers Riverside have so far released four studio albums and are acknowledged as one of the shining lights of the Polish prog scene. Two years ago, on the tour to promote their third album, the trilogy ending Rapid Eye Movement, the band played a special gig at the Toya Studios in Lodz, Poland. This DVD, Reality Dream Live captures the bands set, which lasted for over two hours.

As Riverside are one of the new breed of bands that are content to let their music do the talking, the visuals for the DVD have been jazzed up with an array of after effects. However, for the purist, they are not too distracting and for the casual observer, probably quite welcome.

The first disc of this set captures the main part of their show featuring tracks from all three albums, excellently rendered in 5.1 sound and pin-point visuals. There is the unusual feature of having the song titles displayed at the start of each song, in a TV show style. Again, this can be a welcome addition.

The second disc contains the two encores played on the night, as well as seven other live tracks, videoed over the last few years, consisting of tracks not featured on the previous disc. A welcome extra! There is also a documentary by John Vis entitled Behind The Curtain which follows the band thru their soundchecking.

This DVD captures the band in the height of their powers, playing in front of an appreciative crowd, and is well worth your money!
