Apparently this album may shock some of you. There are people out there in "Prog Land" who think that you shouldn't listen to this, that it's not prog enough, or even Prog at all. Considering "progressive rock" is one of the broadest musical genres around, some of its fans are the most narrow minded. I can only assume that if certain people were around in Prog rocks formative years, then quite a lot of our favourite classic bands would have been snubbed.
Matt Stevens is a guitarist and makes his music by looping guitars, weaving tunes over the top of one another like a musical tapestry. And while he may not slather his music with fancy keyboard swirls, overly complex time signatures or lyrics about goblins, his compositions are as involved and engaging as anything out there.
This album gives you ten tracks of musical experimentation and exploration in the vein of Mike Oldfield, Robert Fripp or Brian Eno and is available on CD for just £6 from his bandcamp page, where you can also buy it as a "pay what you want" download. I suggest you give it a try!
