Norwegian proggers Gazpacho have released six massive atmospheric prog albums over the last nine years, with the highlight for me being 2007s Night. It wasn't much of a surprise when post prog specialists KScope snapped them up a couple of years back in time for the epic Missa Atropos album.
The label brought the band over to London last January where they played at Camden Dingwalls on thye tour supporting Missa Atropos. This double live album was recorded that night.
I've always thought that Gazpacho were one of the increasing number of prog bands who are happiest when working in the studio, so this catches the band out of their comfort zone somewhat. However the band have managed to replicate their studio sound exceptionally well, bringing the same atmosphere to the live stage. Indeed, on the evidence of this album, the band have given the fifteen tracks, taken from the last three albums (Missa Atropos, 2009s Tick-Tock and Night) tracks a new energy. They are played out to perfection with the two part The Walk in particular coming over really well.
If you don't yet know Gazpacho or their music, hang your head in shame as your missing out on some wonderful stuff. The band have also had some of the greatest album artwork courtesy of March Of Ghosts on KScope on 27th February. I don't know what KScopes other plans are for the band, but I'm hoping a reissue of their old albums is on the cards.
