Title

SHADOWED WORLDS

A new demo tape recently hit my desk, containing the writings of one HARLEQUIN. HARLEQUIN are a new band hailing from GLASTONBURY, Somerset (nowhere near AYLESBURY), with their vocalist a 5ft 4 in giant from DONEGAL (miles away from AYLESBURY). The opening track. "TANGLED IN SHADOWS", didn't remind me of THE WEB by MARILLION, but the guitar playing very much like STEVE ROTHERY's of MARILLION, as are the keyboards sounds, which are very different to MARK KELLY's of MARILLION.

The next song, an epic at 5 minutes 13 seconds long, entitled "LURKER AT THE GATES OF SILENCE", was so far removed from "GRENDEL" by MARILLION, as to be rendered incomparible. It contains 6 words, where as "GRENDAL" contains one. "LURKER..." is 12 minutes 27 seconds shorter than "GRENDAL" and isn't sung by someone called FISH (ex MARILLION).

The final song is a song I've not heard before, entitled "HOLIDAYS IN ETON". Apparently it's a cover version, but the cassette inlay card, did not inforn me as to who the original artist is. This is probably the only track that reminds me of RUSH, but they're American so it doesn't count.
