THE MING FIGHTERS |
| There
has been a lot of rumours going around, about the similarity of JOHN
DUNNERY (lead singer and lead guitarist, of the MING FIGHTERS), and his
cousin FRANK DUNNERY (ex IT BITES, and now TOMBSTONE DUNNERY) It's
got to a stage, where FRANK asked JOHN to sing on a song, from Frank’s
forthcoming album. JOHN DUNNERY told SILHOBIT that "I sang one of
FRANKS self penned songs called EGO. We did a couple of takes and FRANK
was so impressed with my vocals and how much we sound a like, that he is
toying with the idea of me signing on the whole album. And this means
FRANK can concentrate on the playing side, and hopefully it may stay this
way, if and when FRANK gets on the road". SILHOBIT
asked JOHN DUNNERY a couple more, questions about "Have any other
bands try to steal you from the MING FIGHTERS?" JOHN
- " Well come to mention it, a band have, there called NAVAJHO KISS.
Apparantly they did this little tour in the summer, it seams to me the
band weren't too happy with their choice of vocalist. As a lot of their
fans were saying they sounded like a cross between THE SWEET, GARY
GLITTER, IT BITES and the PUB SINGER from STEVE WRIGHT’s radio show! SILHOBIT
- "Well do they want you to join?" JOHN
- "Well they want someone who sounds like my cousin FRANK. I’m
prepared to give it a go but I haven't any of their stuff". SILHOBIT
- "So what about the MING FIGHTERS?" JOHN
- "Well I’m prepared to keep the Ming’s going and do the NAVAJHO
KISS a swell” Many
thanks to JOHN DUNNERY for the interview, let's hope JOHN stays with the
Ming’s as they are definitely a band to watch. The good news is they
don't sound like MARILLION! by
