A have been around for a while now, even though I'd never heard of them until the single "Nothing" blew me off a few weeks back. "Hi Fi Serious" is their third proper album (and if the previous are anywhere as good, I'll be hunting them darn). This is British chomp rock at it's best, right up there with Feeder and The Urbane in my books. Several of the tracks even nod the wink at The Police (see "6 O'Clock On A Tube Stop") , in certain ways and lights.
The
single "Nothing" kicks off the CD in impressive style.
"Starbucks" is surely the next single, total kick arse,
while "The Springs" brings it down to a mellower plane,
almost Jadissy in it's feel and lyrics. "Shut Yer Face"
is a romantic song for a loved one. Ha! More like a "Punch And
Judy" for the here and now! |
