John
Mitchell buys Bike - But what will he do with his old bike? |
| Less than Milk
This is the incredible
first photograph of talented musician John Mitchell with
his new Universal 'Hammerhead' BMX bike.
The bike was purchased on Dec 27th, just one day after
Boxing Day, at a secret location in supermarket Tescos,
Reading in Berkshire!
What is even more
amazing is the price. John paid a staggering £82 for
the bike - that is less than the cost of 100 pints of milk !
One passer-by told Silhobbit.com that he even queued up with
the other regular customers.
"he looked around for about a quarter of an hour before
calling over an assistant to help him" explained another
stunned Tesco shopper.
John Mitchell
explained to us what happened.
"I first had my eye on the Universal
Hammerhead BMX during November last year." John explains

Van
When John bought the bike he new exactly what he was doing. Jason
Hendrix was invited with his van in order to get the bike home,
John's plan was to buy the bike and put into the back of Jason's
van.
The same van that was used to take John Mitchell and John Beck
to Whitchurch Festival in the summer when the pair played an acoustic
set together.
The van has assured its place in history and Jason admitted
that the van "is not for sale at any price!"

The Tesco store manager
reckons John got a bargain. This is exactly what happened and
John paid just £82 for the bmx bike.
It should have been £109 and
John
was ready to purchase the BMX for this sum, but when he asked for
assistance he was informed that the only bike of the model
which John required, the Universal Hammerhead, had sold out
completely but the display model was his for £89. John snapped up
the offer and eagerly loaded the bike into the van with pal Jason
Hendrix.
The bike then made the three mile trip in the back of the dirty
white van to John's house.

Tricknuts
One feature of the bike
that John Mitchell is very proud of are some custom 'tricknuts',
although it is unclear as to if the tricknuts were purchased
with the bike or added by the talented songwriter/musician.
Tricknuts are added to
the rear for experienced riders to get more from their bike.
Pictured here John is clearly delighted with the feature, and
the bike also has tricknuts at the front tyre too.

But what
will happen now to John's old BMX? John's
has an old bmx which now has an uncertain future. The
bike, a sixth month old 'Go Easy Joe' and a custom made bike,
which was build by John, includes bits mainly taken from a
Diamond Back bmw.
The bike's future looks uncertain but it may be lent to Pete
Trewavas who is currently recording for the 'Arm Band'. It is
unlikely that John will risk lending the old bike to careful
John Beck who has a cyclist curse hanging over his head and
bizarrely has had not one, but two cycles stolen from him,
even though he did everything to prevent both unfortunate
thefts. |

| Editor's Comment -
John Mitchell saw the bike he wanted, but the boy saved
money. But instead of cycling the new bike home John exploited
his friend and the van in a most sickening fashion. Perhaps he
could donate one of his old bikes to charity as a gesture of
goodwill. We believe that the bike should be donated to
bassist Martin
Raggett
