Two Prog Gigs In Two Nights, Yes The Girls Are Back In Town, with Jo Kinghorn and Marie Davies.

Jo Kinghorn

Hiya Prog Buddies,

Yes, as it says, Marie and myself are back, and bursting with loads of prog gossip to tell the World out there. So, two gigs in two days, that's what it says, and that's what you are going to get.

First of all, I'm going to do the first one and Marie is doing the second one, saves me typing, as I've just done me nails.

Now, the first gig (I love saying gig, gives me a right buzz!) was a girlie dream, not like being in bed with Peter Gabriel or Marvin Orfall, but it was in a shopping centre, wow, love it! Marie came to my flat early on Friday 21st October for toast and jam, and low calorie spread as we like to look cool and slim, size 8 and all that stuff, and she had her case full of clothes and shoes, boots etc and she went into the spare bedroom to sort out what she was going to wear. Anyway we finally got going to Milton Keynes around 10:30 and we were getting some smiles from lorry drivers as we overtook them going south on the M1. When we stopped off to do our hair and pop to the loo, we could see why so many drivers were smiling at us. My Leopard skin leggings were hanging out of Marie's tailgate of her Micra, I was so red faced, I nearly cried as I was going to wear them tonight.

When we got to Milton Keynes, it was hard to find a parking space, but this Nova full of Chavs came from out of a space so we put the Micra in there after four attempts. We were a little peckish, so we went into Subway for a little snack. We got noticed by some more Chavs, and I noticed one was wearing a Galahad t-shirt. We were supposed to be going to this years Progeny in London to see them but we heard that it was called off, but we will do some shopping anyway in London, so no problem anyway.

Anyway, the one in the Galahad t-shirt spoke to Marie and asked if we were from Silhobbit and if we were going to the gig (oooh!) tonight. Marie said 'No' and I said 'Yes' think she was trying to get rid of him, but then he spoke to me. He had heard that Kayleigh (the Silhobbits Autumn Babe, right) was going to be there, but we said no it's tomorrow for Magenta, and he said 'Ok, see you both there tomorrow'.

We had loads of time to shop as most of the shops shut at 8 o'clock, and Pure Reason Revolution were not due onstage until around 10 anyway, so yes, we spent a bomb as usual. I got a nice skirt to wear to the gig (ooh!) and three pairs of shoes too. Marie got some nice suede boots and she said she would wear them tonight at the gig (aah!) and several tops including a black Led Zeppelin vest in which she saw that tart off Top Of The Pops wear one last week. Anyway, after all this shopping lark, we were both starving so we went in into KFC where some more Chavs were in there. Marie had a chilli dip which I said to her keep clear from me at the gig (eeeh!) because you know what happens to you ijfadadv, bum, broke a nail.

Got there ok to the venue, and it felt like a wedding reception. We were on the guest list anyway because I think Vinnie e-mailed Sony in France and there was no problem. The large crowd went quiet as we went to the bar, and got two pints of cider each, then the crowd started talking because they must have thought we wasn't Chavs but good idea from Marie to get pints.

Pure Reason Revolution came onstage after a band who thought they were Kasabian, and we didn't know what to expect. We got down to the front row were more Chavs were, and to our surprise, there's a girl in the band. She wore a nice green and black top, and I asked her where she got it from after the gig (ooh!).

They were a different kind of prog to what we are used to, but you can dance to some of it, and we did. I took my shoes off, and Marie took her new boots off only to get some laughs from the crowd as some of her toes were poking through her socks, so she put them back on again. We had a good dance to the band, and they get my vote for best band of the year anyway. They sound like Pink Floyd and Yes in most songs, I know that because I knicked a load of my dads CD's so there! They sang a song about Ambassadors, hope it wasn't about my dads car he had in the 80's, right nail that was.

I knew Marie should not have had that chilli dip, because she dropped one and went to the loo. This bloke thought it was me as this other one hit this other bloke because he thought it was him. Anyway, Marie came back from the loo and got two more pints of cider. This bloke nudged her as she was dancing and she spilt some of her cider on her new boots, she wasn't a happy bunny by all means.

Anyway, that was the only bad point of the gig (oooooh, last time), and I really enjoyed it, my feet were aching from dancing, but I could put them up on Marie's dashboard on the way to the hotel in London were Charlie had paid for us to stay for the night. There were a few too many Chavs there too for my liking, but who cares, nice concert (didn't say gig then, oh knickers, just said it!) Take care until next time,

Jo xxxx. Over now to Marie.
