IQ

MEAN FIDDLER, LONDON

14 DECEMBER 2002

Well, here we are in London again. We parked the pink Cinq Progmobile in a tube station on the outskirts at 8:30. We got there early so we could do some Christmas shopping and get something to wear for the gig. Gig eh, before we were saying concert, but as we are prog babes now we can say gig!

Got the tube into Convent Garden and we walked into Soho. Went into a few shops and Marie spent about £260 on a pair of boots a skirt and a top. I spent £40 on a nice blue blouse what I wore for the 'gig'. I like saying 'gig', great word!

Went into a pub, because we heard Vinnie, Eva and Carla were in town. Vinnie had jetted in from Paris with his French mates, but they buggered off round Soho all night leaving Vinnie with us. Eva said some of her German mates had made the trip over and she was texting them all afternoon to see where they were.

Marie and I got changed in the loo and we went off to the gig! Gig, I love it! We saw a few familiar faces, but no Charlie! He said he would be here with our money! Vinnie said he had been paid into his Swiss account, so he was ok. Doors opened at 6:10, in we went.

Got to the bar, spent a mortgage on a round, Vinnie had a 1664, and we had a cider each. Got down the front and Martin Orford came out to the crowd and asked a punter the Southampton score. He didn't know, but Marie text her brother, and he text it back. We tried to get backstage but we couldn't. This bloke was holding up two fingers during the first song which was The Wrong Side Of Weird, Martin didn't see it at all, so Marie took her bra off and wrote a 1 on each cup with her lipstick and threw it on stage. The bass player picked it up and put it in his pocket, don't know why!
Eva's German mates turned up, and they were making a right noise, but when IQ played Widow's Peak, god the room was buzzing!

No Love Lost was a beauty, our handbags got crumpled during that one, but we didn't care! The Seventh House again was nice, Marie and I sung along to that one, Marie likes Pete by the way, and he will get some high scores on her list of prog hunks!

Widow's Peak, I love this song, garden over me, great! It All Stops Here, I had to miss that one, had to go to the bar and have a wee too. Marie had to stop jumping up and down, most of the lads at the front were looking at her more than the band, but she wasn't driving and she was drunk a little too.
Eva's German mates had some flags and more things to amuse us and The Wake was great, our bags got squashed again.

After the Christmas encores, Failsafe was played, and this was the end of the night! Marie blew Pete a kiss as she left, and we found a trendy bar around the corner. We had a little dance, said goodbye to Carla and Vinnie and got the tube back. It was very crowded but we got back ok.

I took some photo's of a desperate Vinnie trying to get off with as many girls as he could. I even caught him licking some blokes neck! But to make it up to him, I've also sent a picture of him and Pete Nicholls.

Marie and I are off now to Tenerife, so have a happy Christmas you lucky people, and we will come to a 'gig' near you!

Bye xxxxx
