Tankus The Henge

The Water Rats
Kings Cross
London

15th June 2007

Well what haven't we already said about Tankus the Henge.

Ok, so far we've said bugger all about them, but all that is going to change right here., right now!

Ok so they were third on the bill in the Water Rats in Kings Cross. So what. I work next door so as far as I was concerned it was a rum deal. A couple of pints after work, then a decent gig and still home in time for the Big Brother eviction.

All you you who were "Somewhere Else" tonight missed a cracking but short show. They not be out and out proggy, but more on the lines of the Cardiacs with their franticness. But not so gay with it.

Frontman Jaz dressed in a military tunic and top hat was like a coherent and likeable Pete Docherty ruffian and cheeky with it, ladies. Their songs are as lively and entertaining as the stage show and their had their crowd eating out of their hands.

Stand out song for of was the cheerful Smiling Makes The Day Go Quicker, maybe it's because I'm a hearing it on their MySpace page before I went. Anyway, I'm playing it on the radio this week. The rest of their songs weren't half bad either, and at one point I'd swear that Jaz pulled a trombone out of his jacket pocket. Out of his bleedin' pocket I tell you. Obviously that was before he took his top of and sung t he last number half naked..

With the right backing and some good breaks, this young came could be going places. And I don't mean Margate. So catch them while they're still a manageable size.
